Sergio Giannasso – styling for the Royal Wedding

// March 29th, 2011 // Services, The Salon, The Team

It must be the ultimate dream of any hairdresser to present a future queen and fashion icon to the world on her wedding day. I’d love to, even with all that expectation. Let’s face it: she’s got to dazzle that day. And with all the media attention, she’ll need to “think pink” and smile all the way. (Whatever you go for Kate, I’m sure you’ll look amazing.)

If I were there, I’d say keep it simple, gracious, not too super planned and just a tiny bit playful, arty, sexy. The right touch for somebody young and in love.

For make-up: I’d say go for natural, quiet colours using all the pallettes, from bronze to light brown with a peachy blush eyeshadow softened to create the subtle blend. And a brown pinky lipstick chosen to suit the skin tone, all in matt. Finished with a powder that makes the skin irridescent.

For hair: Plenty of grooming in the weeks beforehand, with the very best products (you know I love kerastase!). And think natural on the day. I didn’t have an expensive tiara to play with (and my model – princess Hedvig – would never wear a plastic one!!!) but I love a simple floral touch and would definitely weave flowers into the overall look. Even something as simple and worldly as gypsophila. It’s such a great way to dramatise your work. I’d use some elaborate twists and barrel curls to create the right shape for the royal tiara but the flowers soften all this slightly.

The final look came together in 15 minutes. I didn’t use much hair spray and set it in a relaxed way, not too structured, with a flow and hint of sensuality about it.

Enjoy the big day / holiday weekend, wherever you may be, and if you too want to feel like a princess (who said you had to actually BE one?) then just give me call.

Baci, Sergio
