Gorgeous Georgian – latest fashion shoot

Just a peek behind the scenes at a fashion editorial shoot last month. A contemporary take on Georgian regency - intricate braids, texture, and hair that hints at Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus - with a whip of leather, lace and boys in corsets! A younger, more risque version of Elizabeth Bennett and Lord Darcy could have walked through those double doors at any moment.

Everything about extensions

Meet Marcio Soares, our inhouse expert on hair extensions. He’s been working for more than a decade with many different product types in an industry that is constantly evolving new techniques. But it’s the client base ultimately that counts and Marcio’s quality of work explains why he is regularly away doing hair across several continents; Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

He says, “I’m always looking for the safest products that have least impact on your natural hair. If done very well, people do not necessarily need to know extensions have been added. What I also do is integrate at least three, usually four, different shades into the natural base colour. This creates the most realistic effect.”

Clients of his either are looking for that glamorous touch (ie Cheryl Cole, Victoria Beckham) or for a more serious, tailored, natural look with volume and / or extra length. ie a simple, accessible way to make you feel more confident and look your best.

A breath of fresh hair!

Ciao a tutti! Very proud to meet Brigitte Pluys who walked in to the salon last week and asked me “Are you on top form?” She wanted to look less “mumsy” and a bit more modern.

As it turned out, she is an extremely successful businesswomen with a big chain of fashion jewellery stores across Belgium called Twice as Nice. (Belgium’s Best Chain Store award winner two years running). So less “mumsy” started to make sense! And I have to say… what a refreshing inspiration to hear of a business that’s breaking the mould after all the gloom we hear of in the press.

I’m REALLY pleased Brigitte that you found us, liked the look of us, booked and came in. It was a pleasure. Very rewarding too that as you left you said the cut was exactly what you were looking for. See you again soon! Sergio

Hairnets at the Chelsea Flower Show

Ciao a tutti.
I loved yesteday’s photoshoot from the Chelsea Flower Show. Bit troubled by this new royal association with silly hats. The Queen looks every inch the icon but the hairnet with ribbons in?? Fine for an evening at home with a little lift (!?) and a glass of fine sherry, but not sure about a flower show. Having said that… I REALLY WANT ONE. For my hair salon. A bit of glamour to go with a glass for my clients with rollers in their hair!!! Beatriz dropped that pretzel, wore some great shoes and has beautiful natural hair. I’d love to put some sun kiss through, make it less solid. I’m also a big fan of a little bit of tan. Think she might need some. xxx Sergio

Going global – the salon goes big in Japan.

Ciao a tutti – I felt like a true geisha this morning. This super trendy magazine in Japan has just run a double page spread on the salon purely out of love. It’s the ONLY London salon featured and a copy arrived this morning! Well done to everybody. And if you can read Japanese, please let me know when you next book in. 2011 New price list

Some useful information about the new price list for 2011, so you can identify the options that suit you best.  

We have increased the range for cuts & styles this year, so that they now start at the lower price of £39 with Stylist Audrey and £50 with Senior Stylist Gana, rising to £65 with Master Stylist Christine and £80 with myself, Sergio Giannasso.

Similarly, with colours, a quarter head of highlights with Audrey now starts lower at £54, rising to £67, £72 and £80: and a half head of highlights at £65 rises to £85, £90 and £97.

Christine is now Master Stylist and very much my deputy based on her wonderful experience and technical skill. She is somebody whom I would recommend to my clients without hesitation, and who can step in to my shoes in the event of my absence or wherever appropriate. Similiarly Gana and Audrey are always at your service and also bring enormous talent and skill to their roles as Stylist and Senior Stylist.
