This is Jillian, who kindly agreed to be pictured before and after the Brazilian keratin treatment – also known as the Brazilian blowdry – on Wednesday.
She arrived at 4:30 for the work-out knowing the whole process could take up to three hours; and even brought her own refreshments along. (We threw in a bit of grana cheese and home made tiramisu and presto! Ready to go.)
The hair is washed, near dried, sectioned, treated thoroughly with the keratin treatment, blow-dried, sectioned again, then ironed and then blow-dried once more. By 7 we’re flagging. Come 7:30 it’s done and she looks transformed.
For more in depth information about the product itself, go to: www.globalkeratin.com/about.html.

Jillian’s day to day is a classic work-hard play-hard London lifestyle.
What made her choose the keratin treatment: “Sergio suggested it and said I would be the perfect candidate and after 5 years his suggestions have never been wrong so far. Always was interested in getting my hair straightened but was put off by the chemicals and all the rules, plus didn’t want pencil straight hair all the time, wanted some body in it occasionally.”
What do you expect from your hair as a result of the treatment? “The main thing is ease at getting a “good hair day” no matter what I do. I want to stop looking like I have just been struck by lightning every time I get my hair wet or it’s about to rain (or stop colleagues laughing and asking if I am ok when I don’t spend some time straightening it with irons). Yes I want my hair to stop being a weather predictor. The next couple of weeks I am going to be spending a lot of time in the water on holidays, and then am swimming training before work, so the idea of getting out of water and not spending hours trying to get my hair looking something reasonable rather than like a “bird’s nest” is very exciting.”
Any initial thoughts, observations? “Wow I don’t think my hair has ever been this straight before but also it feels healthier. Shiny as well.”
What about the four day moratorium on exercise… rain … perspiration, immediately after the treatment? “Feeling guilty on the exercise side but I think the funniest thing is showering with a plastic bag over my head (thank goodness no one is there to see me). Am trying to think of the best solution tomorrow as it is meant to be raining half of the day but will try to remember to carry an umbrella and a rain coat, maybe this will save my dry cleaning bill as lately I keep going out and getting totally drenched. As for the weekend, I’m spending it outside as am at the cricket (The Ashes). Maybe if it rains I can try to blag my way into a members’ stand…”
Watch this space. Once the treatment has settled after the prescribed three to four days, expect an update from Jillian.
A presto,
Sergio
