Hair to make Wimbledon look easy!

// June 23rd, 2011 // No Comments » // Brazilian Keratin Straightening, Celebrities, Humour, Press Coverage, Services, The Salon

A few thoughts on hair style if you’re playing at Wimbledon this year.
Firstly: COME ON ANDY!!!!!
If you’re going to win, just do it looking HOT on FINALS day!
It’s a killer touch to look effortlessly good while playing better than anybody else. We should know!!!
So, we’re officially inviting you in for some feet up and a hair style fit for Centre Court before the BIG one.
We mean it. It’s going to be either super hot, super humid, super wet or torrential between now and then. Take your pick.

By the way, we LOVE your “bad hair day” look! We’re not going to give you a Kate Middleton blowdry. Or match it with make-up!

But we’d definitely start with the Brazilian blowdry keratin treatment. Consider that a smash. Your hair will look champion (and worth the prize money) on a humid day. Ask all our other professional male clients who secretly wish they were you.

Then we’ll cut and style it so you can work it, rock it, slam it (a la Cheryl Cole!) And add a finishing touch with our favourite wax – MUK.

Ask David Hasselfhoff. He came by not long ago.

It takes a lot to be a Wimbledon champion.
Just a few minutes of our time and you’ll be glad you saw us first.

Latest on keratin straightening products from Brazil

// March 14th, 2011 // No Comments » // Brazilian Keratin Straightening, Services, The Salon

We are proud to associate with INOAR – the first company in Brazil to take the keratin straightening treatment mainstream. They’ve now developed a range of keratin products that target specific types of hair, including ones that we wash straightaway after it’s applied. So you get that frizz-free and unwanted volume sensation straightaway. Those days when you had to wait half a week and avoid the rain (ha! in London?!) are over!

Updates on our Brazilian Blowdry

// February 11th, 2011 // No Comments » // Brazilian Keratin Straightening, February 2010, Services

Ciao a tutti,

A useful update from our Brazilian friends at INOAR (who say it was 30C at midnight last night). We prefer their keratin-based formulas specific for this treatment – aka the Permanent Blowdry or Keratin Straightening. Just recently, they’ve developed a range that simplifies things a little for clients. That original restriction – no washing hair for x number of days etc – has changed. Others though remain in place.

BEFORE: DO NOT shampoo or wet your hair for at least four days.

NOW: We advise you to wait a day BUT if you need to, or prefer your hair softer, then you can wash the same day, even after one hour.

BEFORE: Avoid exercise that may dampen the hair with perspiration

NOW: We still advise you stay away from swimming pools, steam rooms, places where humidity is high.

BEFORE: DO NOT tie your hair up in any way.

NOW: We still advise you do not tie your hair up, or use clips, bands, or styling products immediately after the treatment. At least for the first hour.

BEFORE: USE sulphate free shampoo & conditioner

NOW: We still advise you stick to sulphate free shampoos and conditioners. (Note we have the INOAR range of conditioner, shampoo and leave in conditioner products in stock as well as the Organic Sexy Hair range).

Just a quick recap. Have a lovely weekend.

BRAZILIAN BLOWDRY – client feedback

// June 11th, 2010 // No Comments » // Brazilian Keratin Straightening, June 2010, Services

Ciao a tutti!

We welcome feedback … especially feedback on the Brazilian Blowdry… and post it here. It helps you in your own research on the treatment and it helps us. More and more companies are marketing keratin straightening products and we want to stick with what we think works best. Of course, results will vary some from one person to the next depending on the hair. However, one client who booked today for the second time (her first treatment was in mid March) left this comment behind, saying it really does work. “Brazilian blowdry has transformed my life. After years of hair misery, I now have hair that I love! The staff at Sergio’s salon are all lovely, it’s a real pleasure to come here.” (Grazie mille!!!) Let us know what you’ve think if you’ve had it already. And view the other posts further down, if you want to find out more.

A presto, Sergio

Demo in straightening effect of Brazilian Blowdry

// April 17th, 2010 // No Comments » // Brazilian Keratin Straightening, Services

A lot of people ask how straight their hair will be with the Brazilian Blowdry. If you are looking for VERY straight (ie “poker straight”) hair then other treatments are more suitable and I’d be happy to advise and recommend.

This treatment is all about time saving manageable hair that naturally falls straighter, with volume, without frizz. It’s also about putting the natural protein keratin back into the hair. The more damaged the hair, the greater the benefit.

My personal trainer Chiraz (as last… somebody who can get me white-speedo fit for summer!) came for the blowdry. The photos show the process and the end result, just to give you a good idea of the difference it makes. Expect it to last  anywhere between 2 -4 months… it really depends on your hair and how it responds to the treatment.

THE BRAZILIAN KERATIN TREATMENT (aka the Brazilian blowdry)

This is Jillian, who kindly agreed to be pictured before and after the Brazilian keratin treatment – also known as the Brazilian blowdry – on Wednesday.

She arrived at 4:30 for the work-out knowing the whole process could take up to three hours; and even brought her own refreshments along. (We threw in a bit of grana cheese and home made tiramisu and presto! Ready to go.)

The hair is washed, near dried, sectioned, treated thoroughly with the keratin treatment, blow-dried, sectioned again, then ironed and then blow-dried once more. By 7 we’re flagging. Come 7:30 it’s done and she looks transformed.

For more in depth information about the product itself, go to: www.globalkeratin.com/about.html.

Jillian’s day to day is a classic work-hard play-hard London lifestyle.

What made her choose the keratin treatment: “Sergio suggested it and said I would be the perfect candidate and after 5 years his suggestions have never been wrong so far.  Always was interested in getting my hair straightened but was put off by the chemicals and all the rules, plus didn’t want pencil straight hair all the time, wanted some body in it occasionally.”

What do you expect from your hair as a result of the treatment? “The main thing is ease at getting a “good hair day” no matter what I do.  I want to stop looking like I have just been struck by lightning every time I get my hair wet or it’s about to rain (or stop colleagues laughing and asking if I am ok when I don’t spend some time straightening it with irons).  Yes I want my hair to stop being a weather predictor.  The next couple of weeks I am going to be spending a lot of time in the water on holidays, and then am swimming training before work, so the idea of getting out of water and not spending hours trying to get my hair looking something reasonable rather than like a “bird’s nest” is very exciting.”

 Any initial thoughts, observations? Wow I don’t think my hair has ever been this straight before but also it feels healthier.  Shiny as well.”

What about the four day moratorium on exercise… rain … perspiration, immediately after the treatment? “Feeling guilty on the exercise side but I think the funniest thing is showering with a plastic bag over my head (thank goodness no one is there to see me).  Am trying to think of the best solution tomorrow as it is meant to be raining half of the day but will try to remember to carry an umbrella and a rain coat, maybe this will save my dry cleaning bill as lately I keep going out and getting totally drenched.  As for the weekend, I’m spending it outside as am at the cricket (The Ashes). Maybe if it rains I can try to blag my way into a members’ stand…”

 Watch this space. Once the treatment has settled after the prescribed three to four days, expect an update from Jillian.

A presto,

Sergio
